Sunset Boulevard Revisted

I have been watching a movie history marathon all afternoon....very interesting stuff! Of course, Gloria Swanson was mentioned in the early years of film and again in her "come-back" performance during 1950 as Norma Desmond in "Sunset Boulevard". In case any of you have never watched this movie, you can read all about it here.

Its a great drama, but if you grew up in the 60's and 70's, you might remember Carol Burnett doing several comedic sketches playing the same type character as Nora Desmond... It was hilarious to see Carol really exaggerate the makeup and mannerisms in her portrayal of the fading movie star's saga. I think she even had the "look" of the crazy Norma, a.k.a. Nora...

  1. One of my all time favorite movies! Swanson was so good in this role. Carol was a scream in the spoof and Harvey was a great "Max!""

  2. Such a good movie, I happened across it in my twenties and was mesmerized. I also loved Carol Burnett's send up!
